About Me

My name is Johanne Marie; my friends usually call me Jo.

I was born and raised in Montréal Canada. I have travelled the whole of Canada, seen wonderful things that either the cities or the nature can offer. In my early 20’s I moved to Vancouver Canada where I stayed for over 10 years. I lived as a single mother but wasn’t.The father of my son was always away on some business trip, which left us, me and my son, alone for months in a city where I had no family or friends. Eventually I met a kindred spirit in Vancouver which eased the loneliness I felt living there.  Time passed and my mother came to visit me and my boy back in February 2006, little did we know that this visit was to be the last! She passed away little under a week from arriving. Again time, years passed and eventually my “imaginary” relationship to the father of my son ended, I had enough.

But throughout all the hardships one thing remained constant; I was drawing, painting, sewing or writing. I found myself through art! Unexpectedly through social network I met a man, a man to whom I was drawn to, only problem, he was on the other side of the world from me! He was in Norway! I couldn’t believe it; I fell in love with a man who happened to live in the country of my ancestors, what are the odds that I would be called home?!!
Eventually I took a chance in 2009, I left Vancouver and I went to Norway to meet this man. We have been together ever since!

So here you have it, a quick introduction which when you think about it can be summarized by:

Hi, I’m Jo, I am 40 years old mother of a soon to be 17 years old son; I am a woman, an orphan, a friend, a lover, a writer, an artist... I am a human being!

Some history about me

As I have written on the Homepage already:

“Not so long ago someone mention to me “do you have a booth or web-shop for your art?” I had to admit I didn't, I always painted for myself or to give people close to me a present. I did sell some paintings years ago when I was in college but nothing really worth mentioning!”

Fact is that my art (whatever form it was) actually paid my rent as well as put food on the table when I was a student! This was quite welcoming as I didn’t have or wanted roommates to live with. I always protected and prized my privacy.

When I was a little girl, my dad used to push me to draw and paint, and he did with such an obsession that it made me resent the idea of becoming an artist. He said that if I was to go to higher education in the field of arts he would put me through financially. But I didn’t want to; I chose to pursue literature, psychology and history.  But I still painted in my spare time!

Time passed and due to my wonderful man's nagging and a friend's idea, I just started this new business and as I have said; I aim and hope to do custom orders mostly. This website will be upgraded and fixed up over time but this is what I have so far! I hope you like it!!

A little more...

I do all my sewing; bags, cushions, mini displays, clothings etc. I discovered that I love sewing as much as I do painting! I figured that it completed each other rather well when it came to my art. And now I'm sharing it with you!
